The Benefits of Eucalyptus Oil
Eucalyptus Oil is derived from Eucalyptus trees. Eucalyptus Oil was being used by Australian Aboriginals in an infusion used to treat body pains, sinus problems, fever and colds. Some of the surgeons on the First Fleet to arrive in Australia used Eucalyptus Oil found growing on the shores of Port Jackson in the late seventeen hundreds to treat convicts and sailors. It began to be used by early Australian colonists but wasn’t commercially exploited till much later.
In the 1940’s Australian production of Eucalyptus Oil was at its peak but then the demand for timber resulted in plantations of Eucalyptus being felled purely for the wood. The cost of producing the oil in Australia got too high to compete with the cheaper Eucalyptus Oil coming from Spain and Portugal. Now the biggest producers of Eucalyptus Oil include South Africa, Portugal, Spain and Brazil.
Eucalyptus Oil is frequently used to relieve symptoms of influenza and colds in products like inhalants, lozenges and cough sweets.
The advantages of Eucalyptus Oil are well-known and wide ranging, its properties include being an anti-inflammatory, a decongestant, a deodorant, an antiseptic and it is also antibacterial.
Eucalyptus Oil has antiseptic qualities due to its antimicrobial properties and as such it can be used to assist with wound healing, grazes, cuts, burns, abrasions and sores. Eucalyptus Oil is also an effective soothing agent for insect bites and stings. Furthermore, it also protects open wounds or irritated areas from developing infections from microbial activity and exposure to the air.
Skleer All in One Skin Corrective incorporates Eucalyptus Oil in addition to Tea Tree, Caraway, Cinnamon and Cardamom Oils which all work synergistically. The proprietary gel formula takes the potent essential oils deep into the skin specifically to optimise healing.
